Primary students arrive as experts in relationships within their own families. The knowledge they have of how family members work together and care for one another is an important foundation as they explore healthy relationships at school and in their community.
“Bully” can be a buzz word that is thrown around quickly to describe situations and people who are not bullies. Giving students the knowledge they need to understand what is and what is not bullying helps them know what their next steps should be.
Learning to win and lose with grace can be challenging for everyone. Primary students need direct teaching to give them the strategies they can use as they engage in competitive activities.
This program is run by a trained educator in the school and is based on Mary Gordon’s “Roots of Empathy” program. A baby visits the classroom every few weeks and students learn about the needs and development of infants.
