Good Manners
Good manners are fundamental in a safe and caring classroom. Students need explicit teaching to practice these skills.
Model the manners you want children to learn and practice.
Give students the words they need to demonstrate good manners.
Give students opportunities to practice their good manners and praise them for each success.
Manners you may want to teach your Primary students include:
Say please.
Say thank you.
Look people in the eye when you talk to them.
Smile and have a positive attitude.
Say excuse me.
Look for opportunities to give compliments.
Listen when others are speaking.
Apologize.
Respect personal space of others.
Take turns.
Respect resources in the school.
Put things away in the right spot.
Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
Don’t pick your nose!
Hold a door open for others.
Be a good sport.
