Kindergarten is a place of introduction and transition into the school system. It’s our role as educators to help, guide and instruct students to interpret and assimilate into this new environment; to instill definitive attitudes, behaviours and skills essential for success.

Mindfulness is being aware of what is happening around us and what is happening inside us. Students benefit from learning how to observe what is happening and how to reflect on how they feel about what is happening.
Providing children with the tools of mindful moments and other mindful methods allows them to self regulate and manage themselves in times of heightened emotion.

In this brief video kids introduce the topic of Mindfulness and how it benefits them. The “Pause, Breathe, and Smile” method is demonstrated.
Students learn to focus on experiences that are happening in the present moment.
Students learn and practice simple yoga.
Sit Spots are a time and place when students can sit silently to reflect about their day or surroundings.
Help students understand how they can focus their minds and be still.
Students learn to use four pebbles to help guide their meditation.
