Kindergarten is a place of introduction and transition into the school system. It’s our role as educators to help, guide and instruct students to interpret and assimilate into this new environment; to instill definitive attitudes, behaviours and skills essential for success. Mindfulness is being aware of what is happening around us and what is happening inside us. Students benefit from learning how to observe what is happening and how to reflect on how they feel about what is happening. Providing children with the tools of mindful moments and other mindful methods allows them to self regulate and manage themselves in times of heightened emotion.
